Day 159

Another in the Alley Series. We'll call in 14. Here's some Queen Anne's Lace. It's kind of unexpected but the weeds are kind of dying down. Some of it must be people doing maintenance like the school obviously sprayed all over and killed the grasses (but not the prickly weeds), but maybe the weeds are really a thing of the spring and now that it's getting to be hotter and there hasn't been much rain they're not thriving as much.

Day 158

Today I decided to make bagels from scratch (I also made some cheesy biscuits a la Red Lobster but I stirred them too much and they ended up a little too dense). They maybe just taste like bread. I thought they seemed chewier than normal bread. All the dough from our breadmaker ends up tasting the same. :( Still, it was pretty easy to boil and bake them, I just didn't do a good job shaping them so they'd be nice and smooth like bagels usually look. They do have a nice shine from the egg wash, but too much egg wash pooled at the bottom and made them a little crunchy there. What can you do? Try again. :)

Day 157

Today Mom's old home health aide came to visit. She quit to move away to Florida almost exactly two years ago. This is her first time back to Pittsburgh since then and she stopped by with Chinese food and thumbprint cookies for mom. It was very nice to hear about what she's been up to the last couple years. So today's pic is one I took when she moved away. I'll include a pic from today, too even though I didn't catch very big smiles from either of them.

Day 156

I was torn between blurry pictures of a full moon I took around 5am this morning and a boring picture of the enchilada casserole I made for dinner. I went with the moon, but I'll post both here. I should've at least taken a picture showing the different colored layers or something but no, just the cheesy top. :p

Day 155

The sunshine after a storm seems extra bright and fresh. I can't smell so I don't know if it's just a fresh smell in the air. Maybe it's the rain knocking everything out of the air leaving it clearer than usual. It was nice to see after a morning of feeling sick enough to miss church. This pic has night scene and vibrant color.

Day 154

I don't know much about plumbing but I'm pretty sure the top of a water heater shouldn't look like this. Thus my brother and dad embark on a 10+ hoir handyman adventure full of rust, shooting water, repeated trips to the hardware store, and yelling.

Day 153

I wanted to get a picture of sunset (because I waited until 8 to actually act on thoughts of how I should have a picture for today) but it was cloudy to the west. I went all the way to the graveyard (clearest view to the west near my house) but no luck. I did however find a little color in the sky to the north so that's what you get. I'll try to find a more spectacular sunset sometime in the future. I usually seem to see them when I'm driving which isn't great for picture taking.
