Day 127

We planted this iris two years ago from a bulb with leaves my Aunt Mona sent or brought from her garden in Iowa. The first year we didn't expect anything since we just planted it but the leaves stuck around okay. Last spring we thought they'd flower but no, we just got new leaves. Barbara said it was normal for irises and lilies to need a year to establish themselves before they bloomed. This year it seems like overall the bulbs didn't grow back that well (I assume squirrels or whatever got all the tulips, daffodils, and crocuses that Mom planted years ago) but this iris and one at the opposite end of the garden both seem to have split into three plants with just the original growing a flower stalk. Maybe some of the other plants will flower later in the summer.
