Day 224 8-11

Busy day today, more suited for the other blog. It involved watching mom, going to a vegan buffet with Barbara, doing a little unsuccessful bike shopping, getting secret sister gifts, getting entirely different gifts, returning the first gifts, and going to see a movie in the park with the mid-singles (who didn't show up).

I've never been to Grandview park and boy was I missing out! It's a closer drive than Brookline park, it's got an amphitheater which means you could easily come without a blanket or chair, and it has an amazing view of the city. The side we sat on had the movie screen blocking the view of the skyline so in the future I'd pick the other side, though maybe it'd be distracting from the movie. There were fireworks going on in at least two different places. After the Princess and the Frog (better than I recall from the first time I saw it, though I'd forgotten she turned into a frog so obviously I didn't internalize the movie) ended the Pirates game fireoworks were still going off so Barbara and I took some pictures. It was a different view than you get from the usual Mt Washington lookout spots and I really enjoyed seeing the city from a different angle. There are only a couple more movies in the park left this year but I think I'll drag myself over there again to see them just for the atmosphere. I think it wasn't very crowded because it was cold and had been a touch rainy at different times during the day.
