Day 221 8-8
The apples out back are starting to turn bed. Some have already fallen and started to rot and been slippery to step in while walking around the garden. Most of them do not look particularly appetizing but I found one that looks edible to take a picture of for today.

Day 216
First red tomatoes from the garden. I don't know what's with the lines around the top but hopefully they're all yummy anyway.

Day 205
See, my garden is looking rather pathetic considering it cost $100 or more with all the dirt and wood and plants. Maybe closer to $125 or more. It's all rather disappointing. My brussels sprouts are disappearing, the bigger zucchini plants seem to be dying for some reason, maybe sprout related, the beans and peppers haven't taken off at all, the tomatoes have grown but there aren't any red ones... This picture makes it look much more vibrant than I feel it is when I look at it.

Day 204
Something is eating all the leaves from my brussels sprouts. They hadn't even started to look like they'd make sprouts yet. :( I think it's a bug, I saw green made eggs on one plant but I don't see any worms or anything that could be eating them all, a plant a night it looks like.

Day 187
Look, a real zucchini! I could pick it and eat it but I think I'll let it get bigger. There are a couple tomatoes and tiny peppers that haven't grown at all. In fact the peppers have lost many leaves. I don't think I'll get much of a haul from this garden, but I do have this zucchini at least.

Day 168
This little Roma tomato is turning red even though the plant hasn't really grown at all since I transplanted it. Other things in the garden are growing okay but in general I am concerned about the lack of growth and some yellowing.

Day 167
Some of the apples on our tree look normal. Most of them are strangely misshapen. We think it could be insects but I never see any in particular.

Day 161
I was feeling a bit discouraged about the growth of my garden but looking at this picture versus the one when I first planted things there's definitely been some growth some places at least. Patience, patience...

Day 144
Today I FINALLY planted the garden. I set the box up a week ago but it didn't look like it'd filled with weeds while I neglected it. Also the stupid top soil I shouldn't have bought made the soil rockier looking than the normal garden ever had. :p I'm hoping if it ever rains here again it'll somehow smooth itself out.
Regardless, I went to a local garden stand and got a flat of vegetables and some marigolds. In the picture: there are tomatoes to the right, zucchini to the left, brussels sprouts up front and peppers in the back. I need to add beans to the top corner, they're soaking now so they'll sprout faster. I also have a couple things from Barbara, more tomatoes and peppers. I'm thinking of adding some more things outside the box, maybe some corn for fall decorations and pumpkins. I'm a little worried about the soil quality since the garden hasn't done so well lately but I figure if it's things we aren't going to eat it doesn't matter if it actually grows.

Day 142
I should have taken a picture of the stack of Batman graphic novels I spent the day reading. Instead here is a picture of the sunflowers-to-be I planted for mom Saturday.
